I bought this phone with the express purpose to provide an answering machine for contacting a family member who was not able to afford an answering machine at this time. I was very disappointed and frustrated that it did not live up to the discription on Amazon’s site. As far as I know the phone is everything described, but no answering machine was included with the purchase of:Panasonic Dect 6. 0 Dark Grey Cordless Phone with Answering Machine (KX-TG6412M)
The answering machine feature is only available when the base TGA6421 is included. This information is taken from the user manual from the phone I bought. Now I have to decide whether to keep this phone as a back-up for my family member or return it to get the features I thought I had already purchased.
This is the first time I have been disappointed with a purchase from Amazon and I have been a big fan of their selections and service for several years.

Just purchased a Panasonic KX-TG6412M Expandable Cordless Phone. I purchased it BRAND NEW, not refurbished. I did my research on this phone and according to Consumer Reports magazine and numerous other websites it was rated very high so I decided this was the one to get. It has a lot of good features that I was anxious to use, like the ability to block certain numbers. I charged it overnight and when I got the first call on it in the morning, I immediately knew the phone HAD to be returned. It has TERRIBLE call quality and sound. It sounds like you are in an echo chamber and the calling party said the same thing plus they said I sounded like I was very far away. I thought NO WAY! this is a Panasonic phone and it is supposed to be one of the top-rated phones so I tried it twice more and got the same results. In fact in the middle of the 3rd call I had to change to a different phone in the house because the tinny, echo sound was so bad that I couldn’t stand talking on it.
My previous phone was a Uniden and the call quality was excellent but I thought I wanted a new phone with an extra handset that we could put in the garage so I bought the Panasonic. I would not recommend this phone to anyone and I ordered a new battery for my Uniden. The garage will just have to do without a phone until I find one that has great call quality. Panasonic really disappointed me with this phone.

I like the phone but find it a bit too difficult t0 use. The direction book is impossible !!!.

The missed call feature is a pain. It lists all the calls separately even if the same person calls back 5 times. It takes a good deal of time to scroll through the huge list to get to the call that you want!

This is a great phone at a low price! Heads above the GE we used to have. Love the light up panel, the clarity and the size of the lettering. Comes with a second phone! I love it!
